Doodle...

Thank you to all my lovely ladies, and one brave gentleman, who joined with me on Wednesday and Friday evenings this week, we had a great time. Here are the samples of what we made. I spotted a very similar design to this on the web, I changed it a little to suit this time of year (the original was a Christmas card) so thank you to someone called Jo, I appreciate your design, I hope you don't mind that we copied it.
Our card base is Tangerine Tango, I stamped diagonally and in the corners using whisper white and Tangerine Tango ink and stamps from Stampin' Up! sweet summer saleabration set. This is an exclusive set that is not available to buy, you can get them free with a order for £45 from the catalogue. I punched two squares from my brights designer series paper stack in the matching colour. I doodled around the edge of the card base and my two squares using a black journalling pen and again with a white pen. I added groups of three white dots to the background also using the white pen, to fill in some of the "white" space. Finally I added two rhinestones to the stamped detail and a small knot of ribbon on top of the squares.
Doodling is not normally my thing but I was really pleased with how this turned out. I hope you like it.
Happy crafting Dawn x

Happy New Year

How naughty am I? It has been a little while since I was on here last but, I have been busy.

Firstly I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and if you don't celebrate it, I hope you had some time with your family doing something you all enjoy. I feel Christmas is a time for family and close friends, people who you want to be surrounded by. I had a lovely time, I was lucky enough to share the day with my husband, two children, my parents and my mother in law (who is wonderful, I'm really lucky) and I also had a visit from my brother...perfect! After the initial shock of being woken up early and shouts of can we go and see what Father Christmas has brought? (luckily he always leaves his gifts downstairs) things settled into the usual hyper day, with unwrapping gifts, cooking lunch, eating too much, assembling toys etc. and I loved every second and wouldn't want it any other way! I am truly blessed!

We were lucky not to of been effected to badly by the snow, school had shut for the holidays before it arrived and we had a week off before Christmas to play in it, so naturally we had to go sledging and well, that's so much fun with two husky type dogs (although a little scary at full speed and I had to do a safety check, I couldn't let my son have a go if I wasn't sure it was safe!!) Yes the holidays this year, or should I say last year were really fun!

Unfortunately before school finished there were so many children poorly with a variety of bugs that the school production my son was due to be in had to be postponed, there were a lot of sad children and the staff were equally upset, especially after all the effort they had put in. The good news however, is that I had two wonderful evenings out last week to see this amazing production and may I say it was definitely worth the wait, a huge well done to everyone who was involved in anyway. Of course, I was proud to watch my son playing his part as a reindeer and all the children were brilliant, what a talented bunch they are!! Unfortunately I can't post any photos of this as all of my pictures have other children in.

Next, Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2011 is a really good year for you and your families and a great crafting year.

I was so busy at the end of last year that I didn't get to make or send very many cards out, in fact, only a few, and as I felt so bad about this, I have started making my cards for next Christmas, I am very pleased to say I have come up with my design and made approx 50 so far (well it's a start) I hope to have some photos for you soon.
I have also arranged my workshops until about October time so details of those to follow shortly, the only one I will tell you about today is on Friday 4th February 7.30pm and repeated on Saturday 5th February 2pm, we will be making cards with a "love" theme, they can be Valentine/Anniversary/Wedding, everything you need will be provided, please call me on 07779071588 for more details or to book a place, limited places left, this workshop will take place within the Taunton location.

Don't forget, Stampin' Up! have their promotion called sale-a-bration running at the moment, where for every £45 you spend from the catalogue you can choose a free stamp set from a choice of four exclusive sets, or if you host a workshop/party and your sales are at least £300 you as a hostess will get to choose a promotional set absolutely free. This runs until 28th February 2011. Contact me for further details.

Sorry for such a long post, hope to have photos for you next time, until then Happy crafting Dawn x

Merry Christmas

Wishing all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year!
And if you don't celebrate Christmas I wish you Happy Holidays.
Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope you call back again soon, take care, Dawn x

Welcome Christmas

Here is my second card using this gorgeous Welcome Christmas stamp set.
I used real red as my square card blank, a strip of old olive card across the centre and then very vanilla for my layer, cut using my fleur de lis shapeabilities die.
I stamped the wreath from this stamp set in old olive (another fav colour) and added red glitter for the berries, again I tied a knot in a small piece of real red grosgrain ribbon to add an extra detail and cut the four corners of my base card with my scallop trim corner punch. Simple! another easy but effective card. Let me know what you think, leave me a comment. Happy crafting Dawn x

Welcome Christmas

Here is a very simple card I cased from the Stampin' Up! leaflet showing this stamp set "welcome Christmas" which has now become one of my favourites and I'm sure I will use lots making cards for next year (but not yet!)
Unfortunately my photo was not very good, the card base is actually real red, the strip of paper was from the Christmas cocoa paper set available exclusively with this stamp set, the greeting was stamped in chocolate chip ink and cut out by hand, I also added a small tied piece of real red grosgrain ribbon and red glitter as the berries on the wreath. Simple but effective, I think. Dawn x

Advent box two

Here is another of my advent boxes, don't worry I'm not going to add all twenty five of them, just these two!
The box was made in the same way as the other one and decorated with the small Christmas tree die, also from my fanciful holiday shapeabilities die set. The tree was cut from old olive card and I stencilled through the die to add the colour with inks and cut n dry foam. I added a silver clip to each of the boxes. I hope you like my advent calendar, I love how it turned out although I was quite surprised at how long they took to make.
Until next time, Happy crafting Dawn x

Advent calendar

This year I made my children's advent calendar and here is one of the twenty five boxes that I made.
I used a mini milk carton die for the box base, I cut twenty four chocolate chip boxes and 1 gold mirri box, I stamped each box with the triple snowflake from the serene snowflake stamp set in whisper white craft ink, I love this ink it's sooo white!
I then made embellishments to decorate each box, this one was using the reindeer from my fanciful holiday shapeabilities die set.
I cut him from whisper white card and inked him with crumb cake and chocolate chip ink to add definition, I also added a red nose as this had to be Rudolf!
The mini tag was stamped in chocolate chip and cut out using the mini tag punch. I added a silver clip on the top of each box and filled with a selection of sweets that my children enjoy.
I hope you like my advent calendar, please leave a comment to let me know what you think. Happy crafting, Dawn x

Bauble card 4

Here is the last of these cards.
I have used cherry cobbler as my base card and one of my mats, old olive ink, always artichoke ribbon, delightful daffodil as my punched mat and whisper white craft ink on the base. Please leave a message to tell me which colour combination is your favourite Dawn x

Bauble card 3

A bright cheerful colour combination, not everyone's usual Christmas colours, this one was influenced by my friend who loves pink!
Melon mambo ink and card, whisper white craft ink, tempting turquoise ink and ribbon and so saffron card, with a couple of basic rhinestone jewels. Dawn x
